LABOUR PARTY: OUR YOUTHFULNESS OUR NEW PATH TO GOOD GOVERNANCE IS A THREAT TO THE STATE CAPTURE GANG, OUR FIGHT WILL NOT BE IN VAIN




Barr Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the Labour Party in Nigeria, has articulated several important thoughts on good governance and the pressing need for change.  

He reportedly  said, “It has always been my dream to lead the people of Nigeria to have good governance and to have a better life. Now that God has put the leadership in my hands and I am leading the struggle to liberate Nigerians, there is no reason why I should run away from that onerous responsibility and patriotic call to save Nigeria. I believe Nigeria can be better... we need to change the narrative of the country.”

INEC’s Incapacity To Determine The Leadership Of Labour Party In The Face Of The Supreme Court Judgement

  The battle of the various factions in the Labour Party rose to a crescendo after the Supreme Court judgement of April 4th, 2025. The judgement, which unambiguously sent parties to their house to decide their fate, has been variously misconstrued, misinterpreted, and misrepresented. The judgement has been erroneously interpreted to suit the various positions that the factions hold. While it’s common to see parties on a matter take different and often opposing stand, the position of some of these people in the factions is clearly a function of ignorance of the facts of the judgement and the electoral law guiding the relationship of INEC with political parties.   NEC Confirmed its directive for the issuance of NOTICE of the 2024 National Convention of the Party which NOTICE was given to INEC on 04/12/2023. NEC equally confirmed its directive for subsequent Notices of change of date and venue for the 2024 National Convention which held at Nnewi on 27/03/2024. NEC confirmed its ratification of the list of ADHOC delegates, elected from the Congresses in the 36 states and the FCT, to the 2024 National Convention which ratification was granted at the NEC meeting which held in Asaba on 20/03/2024. NEC confirmed that the 2024 National Convention was held in accordance with the CFRN, 1999, the Electoral Act, 2022, the 2019 LP Constitution, INEC Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties, 2022 and the LP Guidelines for the 2024 National Convention.
