BASELESS THREAT ON INEC BY UNKNOWN GROUP OF DISGRUNTLED INDIVIDUALS - LABOUR PARTY YOUTHS READY TO CONFRONT THEM.

 20th OCTOBER, 2025

OFFICE OF THE NATIONAL YOUTH LEADER, LABOUR PARTY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Our attention was brought to a press conference granted by an illegal group known as Forum of Labour Party Candidates made up of people who have been manoeuvring to destabilize the Labour Party, and seem to become the new militant wing of the illegal caretaker committee.
Ordinarily, they do not deserve our attention as they are bound to scatter as usual, but for the purpose of public enlightenment, we deem this press release appropriate.

For clarity sake, there is no such recognised forum of former candidates in the LP Constitution. The purported forum is populated by some chalaterns/individuals who could not even afford nomination fees in the last 2023 general election; some were placeholders, and some never even participated in any election. Those jobless individuals are holding on to the 2023 candidacy as their lifelong achievement, while serious politicians are earnestly preparing for 2027 general election. Some of them, because of political inexperience, believe that there will be another free party nomination form in 2027. Thus, they are holding on to their designation as LP former Candidate.

We also want to state categorically that those groups do not have the mandate of the Labour Party to occupy the INEC National Headquaters in the guise of Labour Party Youths.

We therefore call of security agencies to be on the watch to protect the INEC Headquarters against these chalaterns whose intention seems clearly to disrupt the current peaceful leadership transition in INEC.

We, the Labour Party Youth Wing, are happy with the INEC continued communication with Barr Julius Abure and Alh Umar Farouk as the National Chairman and National Secretary in line with Labour Party Constitution, INECs Electoral Acts (2022 Amended) and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Nigeria is a democratic state where the majority always have their way, and an institution can not be left in the whims and caprices of an individual, no matter how highly placed.
