In the vibrant tapestry of Nigeria’s political landscape, where ambition often clashes with principle, 
Prince Kennedy Chigozie Ahanotu stands as a beacon of purpose and resilience. 

As the National Youth Leader of the Labour Party (LP), Ahanotu has emerged as a dynamic force, working hand-in-hand with National Chairman Julius Abure to steer the party toward a future defined by unity, progress, and inclusivity. 

His journey from a grassroots activist to a pivotal figure in one of Nigeria’s most transformative political movements is a testament to his unwavering commitment to the nation’s youth and the ideals of the Labour Party.

At just 40, Kennedy Ahanotu is a rare blend of intellectual rigor and grassroots passion. 
A graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and the University of Abuja, Ahanotu holds degrees in agricultural and development economics, complemented by extensive expertise in climate change and green economy policies. 

His professional journey spans over a decade of impactful work in research, strategic planning, and social activism, positioning him as a thought leader in Nigeria’s quest for sustainable development.

Ahanotu’s ascent to prominence within the Labour Party began in 2016 when he joined as a dedicated member, quickly rising through roles such as Abuja Municipal Area Council Secretary, Director of ICT, and Deputy National Secretary in 2019. 
His political mettle was tested as the LP’s House of Representatives candidate for Abuja North Federal Constituency in the 2019 elections, where his campaign resonated with voters seeking authentic representation.

In October 2022, Ahanotu stepped into the spotlight as Acting National Youth Leader following the suspension of his predecessor, Eragbe Anslem, for alleged misconduct. 
His leadership was formalized at the party’s national convention in Anambra State in March 2024, where he was elected as the substantive National Youth Leader. 

This role has placed him at the heart of the Labour Party’s efforts to harness the energy of Nigeria’s youth, a demographic that constitutes over 60% of the population.

In the middle of the Labour Party's Internal crises, including attempts to undermine Abure’s leadership through unconstitutional maneuvers, 
Ahanotu stood firmly by Abure, publicly condemning efforts to install an interim committee led by Senator Nenadi Usman, which he described as a violation of the party’s constitution. 
“The Labour Party is not a personal estate,” Ahanotu declared at a press conference in Abuja, emphasizing the need for adherence to due process and democratic principles.

His defense of Abure’s leadership is rooted in a shared vision for a Labour Party that prioritizes the welfare of ordinary Nigerians. 
Together, they have worked to strengthen the party’s structures, from ward-level mobilization to national strategy sessions, ensuring that the LP remains a viable alternative to Nigeria’s traditional political heavyweights.

As National Youth Leader, Ahanotu has made youth empowerment a cornerstone of his agenda. From organizing town halls to fostering entrepreneurship programs, Ahanotu has ensured that the Labour Party is not just a political entity but a platform for social and economic transformation.

  NEC Confirmed its directive for the issuance of NOTICE of the 2024 National Convention of the Party which NOTICE was given to INEC on 04/12/2023. NEC equally confirmed its directive for subsequent Notices of change of date and venue for the 2024 National Convention which held at Nnewi on 27/03/2024. NEC confirmed its ratification of the list of ADHOC delegates, elected from the Congresses in the 36 states and the FCT, to the 2024 National Convention which ratification was granted at the NEC meeting which held in Asaba on 20/03/2024.
