The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has granted an order for substituted service on Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi. The ruling comes as part of an ongoing N5 billion defamation lawsuit filed by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan over explosive claims that she allegedly had six children for different men. Justice Angela Otaluk issued the ruling on Wednesday after hearing a motion ex parte brought by Akpoti-Uduaghan’s legal counsel, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Yahuza Mohammed Zakari. The motion, dated April 10, 2025, sought the court’s permission to serve Senator Nwaebonyi by publishing the notice in a national newspaper or delivering it through the Clerk of the National Assembly or Clerk of the Senate. The defamation suit, which has already captured national attention, stems from public statements allegedly made by Nwaebonyi, the Senator representing Ebonyi North Central Senatorial District. Akpoti-Uduaghan claims the statements were not only...

2027: Labour Party Not Celebrating Obi's Declaration, Declares Presidential Ticket Open ... Obi's coalition Project an Affront to Party leadership

Image
STATEMENT FROM THE LABOUR PARTY The attention of the leadership of the Labour Party has been drawn to the news trending in the media that the party is "celebrating" that its candidate in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi has declared his intention to run on the platform of the party in 2027. I want to state emphatically that I was quoted out of context and therefore, the impression conveyed by the news was erroneous, inaccurate and does not in any way reflect the position and mood in the party. First, while we are not opposed to anybody running under the platform of the Labour Party in the 2027 general election, we need to make it categorically clear that the party has a long standing rule on how its candidates shall emerge and automatic ticket is not one of the routes. Recall that at the party's National Convention in 2024, the party had erroneously granted automatic tickets to our former Presidential candidate and the only governor of the party, however, that ...

Ajero led NLC destabilizing Labour Party, not government - Party Reacts

Image
STATEMENT FROM LABOUR PARTY The attention of the leadership of the Labour Party has been drawn to yet another illegal and purported stakeholders meeting that was held today by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC led by Comrade Joe Ajero in cohort with the Nenadi Usman and others, wherein they alleged that the Labour Party is being destabilized by the federal government because of the potential of the party. The NLC President, Ajero who is now sounding like a broken record, also restated his resolve to invade unannounced the national and state Secretariats of the Labour Party, with his armies, with the intention to take over the party forcefully. We must state clearly and categorically that if there is any person or organization that has destabilized the Labour Party or who is working to destabilize the party, it is no other person than Joe Ajero and the NLC. We must also state here that after the general election in 2023, the party has no issues at all, we had no faction and w...

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has accused the Nigeria Police Force of showing bias in its handling of multiple petitions she filed against Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, while swiftly pursuing a counter-petition filed against her by Akpabio. The accusation was detailed in a formal letter dated May 19, 2025, addressed to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice. The letter, signed by her legal counsel, Dr. Ehiogie West-Idahosa, SAN, described the police’s conduct as a “disturbing pattern of preferential treatment” in favour of Senator Akpabio. “Our client submitted numerous petitions to the Nigeria Police against Senator Akpabio,” the letter stated. “These petitions were clearly stated and submitted between March and April 2025, yet no meaningful steps have been taken to impartially investigate them.” The petitions in question include: A March 25 report alleging threats to Senator Akpoti-Udu...

Natasha vs Akpabio: Kogi senator didn’t threaten to bring down Yoruba Govt – Ogbonnaya

Image
The proxy war between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan over sexual harassment allegations, assumed a fresh twist at the weekend when a journalist and gender advocate, Mrs Francess Olisa-Ogbonnaya dismissed claims by a United Kingdom based social media influencer, Sandra Duru, popularly known as Professor Mgbeke, alleging Natasha had threatened to bring down the "Yoruba Government" of President Bola Tinubu. She also denounced claims by Duru that Natasha paid a former Minister of Education and ex-World Bank Vice President, Dr Oby Ezekwesili to cause a rancour during a parliamentary inquisition into the allegations of sexual harassment levelled against Senate President Godswill Akpabio by the Kogi Central Senator. Speaking in an interview with Social Media personality, Adeola Fayehun, Olisa-Ogbonnaya wondered how possible it was for a minority senator from Kogi state to pull down Tinubu's administration. *** Howe...
